Our Community

Grassroots has been based in Stockport since 2008 and we play a very active role in our local business community. We’re passionate about advocating Stockport as a great place to work and helping new and existing companies to take advantage of the local labour market.

Whilst we may only be a small company, we know that we can make a big difference in the Stockport community. That’s why we take our commitment to corporate social responsibility very seriously – from supporting local employment campaigns to fundraising for regional charities.

Fundraising

Over the past few years, we’ve supported the work of local heroes including Francis House, JDRF, Shelter, Cash for Kids, CC Gymnastics and racing driver Kyle Hornby.

Volunteering

We operate an Employee Volunteer Scheme whereby every member of our team is given 16 hours paid leave each year to spend supporting local initiatives.

Charity of the Year

Having donated £2,359 for local projects last year, our nominated Charity of the Year for 2018 is the Wellspring, who provide support to homeless and vulnerable people.

Challenges

From sponsored treks to running events, we love getting the team together to tackle big challenges to raise money and awareness for great causes.

Supporting Stockport Growth

We play a very active role in the Stockport business community. We’re members of Marketing Stockport, attend regular networking events and offer discounts to local businesses via the SKone Card scheme. As well as making our home in Regent House, one of Stockport’s most recognised office buildings, we support the local job-seeker and employer community with free events, we collaborate with local partners to extend our services to clients and all of our team is based within the SK locale.

We deliver career workshops at local colleges and support community training intiatives, as well as encouraging inward investment and inclusive growth by producing a range of research reports on employment trends across the borough. Our directors also occupy board positions for Stockport Business Improvement District and SMBC’s Stockport Work and Skills Board.
