As we divert the phones and put the ‘out of office’ on for the last time this year, we take the opportunity to look back at 2018 and the highlights for the Grassroots team.
We’re delighted to say that 2018 has been another incredible year. Whilst we’re still awaiting the results of our financial year end, we’ve already exceeded our target of £1.7m turnover (double that of the previous year) and delivered against more recruitment campaigns than ever before.
The continued surge in the Stockport jobs market (with high levels of investment, vacancy growth and new employers moving to the borough) has meant we’ve had the pleasure of supporting a record number of new clients, alongside our much-valued established client base of course.
Our IT Contract Division has been especially buoyant and, having secured £500K invoice finance from Lloyds Commercial in September, we’re looking forward to a similar pace of growth in 2019.
Our biggest success this year is undoubtedly achieving the accolade of Business of The Year (Turnover £1-5m) at Stockport Business Awards 2018. Celebrating our 10th anniversary this year, it seemed a very fitting tribute to the hard work and commitment of our dedicated team and the success they have helped us to achieve. The evening, surrounded by clients, colleagues and friends, at Stockport’s iconic town hall will be one that we never forget.
This year we were delighted to produce the very first Stockport Salary Survey. The comprehensive report, which included essential pay data, employment analysis and commentary from top local employers, was incredibly well received. The results pointed to an extremely positive outlook for business growth and job creation, as well as providing an insight into some of the innovative ways Stockport’s top businesses and investing in the best talent.
At the start of 2018, we rolled out some fairly major changes to our operating processes and internal systems. We launched a new website (which has had several phased updates throughout the year), implemented an integrated Applicant-Based Tracking database and updated our HRD & Training policies to embrace a values-led culture.
All these changes allowed us to increase our commitment to quality. We’re now more able to deliver standardised, streamlined recruitment campaigns on behalf of our clients, whilst ensuring a higher level of training and investment in our consultants. In February, we achieved 97% compliance in our REC Members Certification; in April, we achieved our ISO 9001:2015 Accreditation; and over the summer we scored an aggregate customer service rating of 94% following an experience project led by Insight6.
As well as all the hard work, we’ve also managed to raise £2595.70 for our charity of the year, The Wellspring by participating in various golf days, social events, sponsorship opportunities and challenge events. In May, Caroline and Molly took on the Manchester 10K run and in September, Richard, Steven and Rick completed the Ullswater 20 Trek around the Lake District. Throughout the year, our team has given a staggering 250+ hours in volunteering courtesy of our Employee Volunteer Scheme.
Looking ahead to 2019
We have a number of exciting new developments as we look ahead to the New Year, including adding to our team of experienced consultants and working towards further accreditation’s. For now however, we’re looking forward to a well-deserved rest and time with our families.
